Honorary Instructor: Beate Strittmatter
Dr. Beate Strittmatter, MD, FA
A true leader in the field and author of Ear Acupuncture: A Precise Pocket Atlas Based on the Works of Nogier/Bahr (the text used in the CIAM core curriculum), Dr. Beate Strittmatter is director of education at the German Academy for Acupuncture (Deutsche Akademie für Akupunktur | DAA) and was a key force leading to the founding of CIAM, having presented auricular trainings in Canada on the invitation of Dr. Muriel Agnes. She continues to advise as a subject matter expert on clinical methods.
Honorary Instructor
From her position as Director of Education at the Academy founded by Dr. Bahr, Dr. Strittmatter has been instrumental in the auricular field owing to the seminal texts she authored on the work of Nogier/Bahr. The educational texts she has published (see below) are among the most important references in the field of ear acupuncture/reflexology/auriculomedicine — manuals that provide the foundation for curricula offered by leading continuing education providers such as CIAM.
Dr. Strittmatter’s work has helped recognize Dr. med. Frank Bahr as having furthered the work of Dr. Nogier and developed auriculotherapy into the Auricular Medicine practiced internationally today. The contemporary Auricular Medicine established by Dr. Bahr is known also as German Auricular Medicine in North America.
Beate continues to contribute to the development of Auricular Medicine through her work at the DAA, her ongoing private clinical practice, and her publications (Ear Acupuncture: a Precise Pocket Atlas is now in its 7th edition and has been published in five languages). A few of Beate’s advancements in the field include: deeper assessment insights with fewer points, treatment of foci in the teeth without tooth extraction, and use of frequency 7 for improved foci treatment.

Pocket
Atlas
The Pocket Atlas is considered by students of ear acupuncture to be the definitive guide to the practice, and a must-have for the study of Auricular Medicine. This text book, published in numerous languages including Chinese, is required reading for CORE courses in the CIAM curriculum.
Clearing
Blockages
The textbook, Identifying and Treating Blockages to Healing: New Approaches to Therapy-Resistant Patients, by Dr. Strittmatter, is a practical reference to Level 2 CORE coursework. In CIAM Level 2 training, updates to this text are presented — offering approaches that simplify learning and practice.
Rescue
Love!
There is arguably nothing more meaningful in life than love, and in this book (as in her related podcast, Rettet die Liebe), Dr. Strittmatter helps us understand the laws governing our own emotional frameworks, and our potential to resolve all of the problems we may have ever encountered.
Top 100 Points for Orthopedics
Co-authored with Dr. Gerhard Opitz, MD, former president and lecturer at the German Academy for Acupuncture (Deutsche Akademie für Akupunktur | DAA), this book covers the 100 most important acupuncture points for use in orthopedic medicine — especially related to chronic pain.
The Big Book
on Ear Acupuncture
You may not have the “Big Book” in your collection. It is only available in German. Remember, with the Ear Point Guide you can go big too — beyond acupuncture and into auricular neuromodulation. To internationally present the work of physicians Bahr and Strittmatter, is a founding reason for CIAM.
